MISSION
The mission of the
Research Center for Humanities and Social Sciences includes research, teaching,
and knowledge sharing. The main tasks of the Center are as follows:
● To draft university-wide research and
development plans for humanities and social sciences, improve teaching quality,
and establish a platform to facilitate research, teaching and community
outreach.
● To nurture a new generation of cross-disciplinary
scholars/teachers, encouraging them to participate in various international
academic communities and helping them broaden their perspectives.
● To provide a forum for scholars to exchange professional ideas and knowledge at regional, national, and
international scales.
● To establish cooperative relationships with research institutes
in Taiwan and abroad, initiating and participating in international academic
exchanges, and raising the university's scholarly
reputation in humanities and social sciences.
STATUS
Founded in 2008, the
Research Center for Humanities and Social Sciences (RCHSS) at NCHU is one of
the four such centers in Taiwan funded by the Ministry of Education. As the
only center of this kind located in central Taiwan, the Center serves as a
pivot for regional, national and international academic collaborations.
VISION
The primary aim of the
RCHSS is to create a scholarly atmosphere grounded in multidisciplinary
empirical research, with emphasis on both theory and practical problem-solving,
which not only pursues teaching and learning excellence but also provides an
intellectual ground for resolving social and cultural disputes over important
local or global issues.
